We are your timber decking specialists and have been operating as a family-owned and run business for decades. This means we’re experienced in providing end-to-end, custom timber decking installations to suit individual lifestyle needs – no matter how complex.
Addon Pergolas is based in south-east Melbourne, with our head office positioned in Narre Warren. We also span right across Berwick, Cranbourne, Rowville and the wider region of Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
At the beginning of the process, we’ll carry out an initial discussion with you to better understand your needs. During this time, we’ll note down any specifications that may be required, and work towards blueprinting an option that maps out all necessary materials and budget restrictions. From this stage, we’ll action the construction process, keeping you in the loop throughout the journey.

What is the best wood for timber decking installations?
Here at Addon Pergolas, we use a range of quality timbers – including Merbau, Spotted Gum, Treated Pine and Cypress Pine. You are not restricted to these products, though, and we can use any other material that you prefer. Some other popular options in Australia include Jarrah, Blackbutt, Stringybark and Ironbark.
Oak is another option that is ideal for these designs, ultimately because it is a slow-growing type that has a high density. This creates an extremely sturdy alternative to others.
Additionally, all of the materials provided for your design is pressure-treated to make it stable and resistant to the elements. This ensures no damage can occur to the wood over time. Pressure-treating is the process of embedding chemicals into the wood itself, helping to ward off termites, insects and the potential risk of fungal decay.
Note: While the timber used for the decking itself is treated, you can also include natural, untreated alternatives for features like beams and posts.
Custom options for your lifestyle and space
Every design is different and Addon Pergolas ensures that you are getting the right choice for your property and your needs – each and every time. Throughout this process, we will calculate the floor load for you, so that it can hold up all the furniture and guests you want to accommodate.
We’ll also use all of our experience and industry knowledge to ensure all frames, bearings and features are constructed to be sturdy and safe. No job is too big or small for our team, and we will work with you to include all of the features you want featured within the construction.
How long do timber decking installations last?
Constructed correctly, you should get 15-20 solid years out of your solution before you need to look at refurbishing and replacing some of the timber. If your deck has stairs, you may need to replace parts after about ten years. But like anything, your design is only as good as the construction and the materials used. That’s where we come in.
We construct all designs using careful attention-to-detail and quality materials to ensure it will stand the test of time. And we are also available for after-care options as well.
Note: a simple sand and polish every couple of years will help reinstate freshness to your timber.
How much do decking builders cost?
There are almost limitless options when it comes to these designs, depending on the space you have available at your property and the purpose you want it to serve. We will work with you to create the perfect option within the boundaries of your budget. Within this phase, we’ll also ensure that you get a cost-effective result that looks the part and remains stable for the long run.
We’re your end-to-end solution for all your needs in this space – from including the initial consultation, through to receiving a no-obligation quote. We’ll provide any assistance you require along the way, including supporting you with gaining council permits.
